- GRANULAR CELL TUMOR
- Armed Forces Institute of Pathology
- Granular cell tumors in the horse are usually seen in horses in association with airways, often bulging into them and causing various amounts of obstruction. The granules are PAS-positive, diastase resistant lysosomes, and due to the presence of myelin within them, may stain variably acid fast. The cells stain positive for S-100 and vimentin. The cell of origin is considered to be a Schwann cell.
