    • CAEV virus, a group B small ruminant lentivirus, results in a range of symptoms in affected animals including encephalitis, arthritis, interstitial pnemonia, and mastitis. The encephalitis form is primarily seen in kids 2-4 months of age. In sheep, the analogous group A retrovirus causes encephalitis "visna" in animals over 2 years.
