- Note the small numerous small sulci in the occipital region of the cerebrum. This finding has been identified in Standard Poodles with cortical blindness (blindness in which the eyes and optic nerve are considered normal.) The visual cortex is located in the occipital region of the brain. Abnormal gyri (such as seen in this condition or in lissencephaly are more than a gross lesion and suggest improper neuronal microanatomy as well.
